A Small Way to Amuse My Self (Hear The Sound of Ants)

I woke up this morning with a question about ants that still remain inside my head for couple days: the sound of ants. Well, the Moslem must know that Solomon could speak to animal, include ants. It’s stated in An-Naml verse 18-19:-

(18 ) Until when they reached a valley of naml, one of the naml at (un) conveyed: O you company of naml? into your dwellings lest Solomon and his armies crush you unbeknownst to them.

(19) So he smiled, amused by her message, and said: O my Lord! Order me that I may be grateful for Your favours which you have bestowed on me and on my parents, and that I may work righteousness that will please You. And admit me, by Your Grace, to the ranks of Your righteous servants.”

I found in other translations, it uses thee instead of you, thy replaces your etc, but it has the same meaning. Naml means ants, yes, ants the termite. It mentioned literally in Koran. So it means that ants could produce sound or something to communicate each other and Solomon could hear and understood it as well.

Then I started googling and I found that, their acoustic communication has been thoroughly researched and documented in a study from Robert Hickling, National Center for Physical Acoustics University of Mississippi and Richard L. Brown, Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology, Mississippi State University entitled “Near field acoustic communication by ants”. Not only did they document ant sounds, they recorded the sounds as you can hear at the following URL: http://home.olemiss.edu/~hickling/

Yes, ants squeak and they communicate each other, with a phenomenon that called “stridulation” with a specialized organ located on their gasters. It can be heard by humans as faint air-borne sound. I am happy that this proves that Koran is true. Well, actually I still have some questions for my self, but currently, I’m little bit satisfy.
