Teh Poci (A Cup of Happiness)

Once, I traveled to Cibinong (near Jakarta). It was a business travel. It’s mid day, sun shine, bright, and dry. I saw some worker laid the asphalts down across the place where I stand. This vision made me exhausted. Once my business completed, I decided to find a place to take a rest, just for a while before back to the office. I and a friend who accompanied me at that time found a small restaurant. I won’t talk about the food. It isn’t about the food. It is about TEH POCI, my favorite one.

Actually Teh Poci is just ordinary jasmine tea. It’s tight, strong and sweet, Javanese mentions it as wasgitel (abbreviation of wangi, panas, sepet, legi lan kentel or fragrant, hot, somebody please helps me what is “sepet” in English and Bahasa? sweet and tight/strong). Usually people use crystal sugar as sweetener. Just because it‘s poured from a tea pot or poci in Bahasa to pottery glass while it’s still hot or boiling then people named it Teh Poci. Umm, little bit weird, because like I said before the day is very hot and dry but I kept choose to drink it instead of a glass of orange juice for example. I’m so addicted to it (and black coffee) definitely. One secret, people believe the special taste of this tea is because they never washed the tea pot with soap, so it makes the tea flavor from previous serviced remains.

Once, I traveled from Yogyakarta back to Jakarta through Cilacap with some friends. We decided to stop by at Pringsewu restaurant for lunch. Sure I have teh poci and happiness. Please never ask me the taste was. You may have a wrong person. I’ll never be objective for a cup of teh poci.

Are you still fasting today, aren’t you?

:D
